Highlights
Arrive to the base of Icy Strait Point and ascend over 1,500 feet to the top of Hoonah Mountain in a state-of-the-art gondola, with views from all sides.
At the mountaintop, board an open-air tram for a roundtrip journey through old-growth forest with Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and wildflowers lining the road on your way past a lake.
Hear your guides describe the ecological and cultural significance of the forest’s unique plants and animals, and how the island’s Tlingit people are bound to its rich landscape.
Bring your camera to capture pictures from spectacular viewpoints overlooking Spasski Valley, the snow-capped mountains surrounding Port Frederick, and the city of Hoonah.
