Overview

An opportunity not to be missed! Iceland has quickly become known as the ‘whale watching’ capital of northern Europe’. Reykjavik offers some of the best whale-watching opportunities in Europe and a wide variety of marine mammals are spotted regularly as they come into the bay to feed. Among those whales are Minke, Fin, and Blue whales. Sometimes guests can also expect to see the Humpback whale, which is easily identified by their enormous black and white pectoral fins (flippers), lumps of tubercles on the snout and lower lips, and their big bushy blow. The Humpback whale is certainly one of nature’s most impressive creatures. A large number of seabirds including puffins and other marine mammals are also regularly spotted out in the bay - such as the fun-loving harbor porpoises and white-beaked dolphins who often come up close to the boats to playfully surf alongside the boats.
