Overview
Enjoy an in-depth perspective of the "Golden Circle" with some extra attractions. From Reykjavík, you will drive over the Mosfellsheidi heath to beautiful Thingvellir National Park, a place of tremendous interest as a primary site of Iceland's geological and historical heritage. It was here in 930 AD that the Vikings formed the Althingi-the oldest still-existing parliament in the world. In 2004, the site of Thingvellir was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour continues over the Lyngdalsheidi heath into the fertile farmlands of the south to visit the Gullfoss golden waterfall. A few minutes drive from Gullfoss is the Great Geysir Geothermal Area, which has given its name to hot springs (geysers) all over the world. Here, you will see one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouting up to 90 feet every few minutes. Kindly note that the running order of visited sites might vary.
